The suspension system of your vehicle is designed to be complex. There are many different parts and components that have to operate in combination in order for you to have a safe and smooth ride. Before you can begin buying suspension parts without knowing the true cause of your suspension problem, it is important that you become more informed. It is essential that you know how to diagnose the most common suspension problems.

Loose Bolts

It is always important that when you begin to notice that your car is swaying or showing signs of suspension issues that you first check all bolts and mounting nuts. In many cases, there is no real issue with the suspension system other than the bolts or mounting nuts have become loosened over time. Tightening these nuts and screws could correct all suspension problems.

Pulling

If you notice that your vehicle is pulling to the side and tightening the bolts and nuts does not correct the problem, you may have a larger suspension issue on your hands. It is possible that your tyre could have low pressure, but often times the steering components on your car may be going bad. This means that the tie rods need to be inspected by a suspension professional like Wilkinson Suspension Centre and the steering rack also needs to be evaluated. When the steering components on your vehicle begin to wear, this allows for more play in the wheel and it can pull to one side.

Bouncing

Bouncing over bumps in the road is another sign of suspension issues. When your car bounces and dips frequently, you often have a suspension problem that requires immediate attention. The main culprits of this type of problem could be struts that have become worn over time or a broken leaf spring. Leaf springs can become broken or sometimes slip out of place. Replacing the leaf springs can correct a bouncing issue with your vehicle.

Steering Problems

If you notice that your car is becoming difficult to steer, this can be a suspension problem. In most cases, you will notice that the wheel is especially hard to turn at low speeds. Not only do power steering fluid levels need to be checked, but you also need to take a look at the steering belt. It is possible for the steering belt to become worn over time and this will make steering more difficult. It is also possible for a bad steering pump to be the culprit of the problem. You need to have all o these parts inspected before a diagnosis is made.
